Sona from Riftbound TCG

Sona

If you’re playing a rune-heavy midrange deck and you haven’t considered Sona from Riftbound TCG, you’re behind.

This is one of the cleanest value engines shown so far during Preview Season—and she doesn’t even need to attack to start taking over.

Sona is a Champion Unit for Demacia, and she fits like a glove into decks that want to go wide, go elegant, and go tempo-heavy.

What she lacks in explosive keywords, she makes up for with consistent, compounding value that stacks turn after turn.

She’s also one of the first Harmonious subtype champs shown, which may point to a wider synergy theme later in the set.

Gameplay / Cool Mechanics

Sona from Riftbound TCG is a 4-cost, 4-power, 4-health unit—solid statline, clean board presence. But her real strength kicks in at the end of your turn.

While she’s on the battlefield, she readies 4 friendly runes.

That means runes you’ve used that turn—whether to cast spells, activate abilities, or trigger battlefield effects—become available again on your next go.

And she does this passively, every turn she survives.

In short? Sona’s not just support—she’s recursion. With the right deck, you can double-dip on high-impact runes, build up tempo, and stretch your opponent’s removal resources thin.

The only catch? She needs to live. So while she’s not a threat by herself, she amplifies the rest of your board with almost absurd efficiency.

Visuals

The splash art for Sona from Riftbound TCG leans full tilt into grace and control. She’s seated in a sweeping mid-performance pose, her massive stringed etwahl glowing softly under her fingers.

The background is minimal but radiant—her hair floating like a conductor’s baton mid-crescendo.

League Splash Team went maximal on elegance, with dramatic lighting and a gentle sense of motion in her arms and gown.

It’s calm. Composed. Deadly, if you don’t answer her fast.

Pull Rate & Value Speculation

Card number 073/298, Sona is clearly positioned as one of the core Champion Units in Riftbound TCG.

The foil version will likely be one of the most desired among collectors, especially for anyone running Demacia builds or building competitive rune loops.

While her rarity isn’t printed yet, the fact that she’s a battlefield-activated Champion makes her feel like a Rare, possibly even a Mythic in certain pack breakdowns.

If the game includes alternate-art splash variants for Champions (as is becoming increasingly standard), Sona’s poised to get one.

Add in her Harmonious tag—possibly a new archetype marker—and she’s a strong pick for early investors banking on meta shifts.

Sona from Riftbound TCG isn’t flashy. She’s not your finisher. But if she’s left alone, she becomes your unfair advantage—and that’s exactly what makes her dangerous.
