Promising Future from Riftbound TCG

Promising Future
Spread the love

Promising Future is one of the most unusual and risky five-cost spells we’ve seen so far in Riftbound.

It doesn’t just shift tempo—it rewrites the next few turns for both players. At face value, it’s symmetrical card access.

But in practice, this is a high-skill, high-reward play that hands you control if your deck is built to break the mirror.

Gameplay / Cool Mechanics

Here’s what Promising Future does. Each player looks at the top five cards of their Main Deck, chooses one, and recycles the rest.

Then, starting with your opponent, each player plays their chosen card without paying its Energy cost. Power cost still applies.

This is not value in the traditional sense. You’re not drawing cards or gaining mana.

What you’re doing is creating a forced sequence where both players get one preloaded threat or spell—on your timing. That matters.

In decks designed to cheat high-Energy cards or frontload massive effects, this becomes a setup spell that lets you go over the top. You control when this goes off.

Your opponent gets to act first, sure, but if your deck is preloaded with finishers or late-game tempo swings, you’re guaranteed to follow with something stronger.

Especially if your card lines up as a counter or a kill-shot.

It also plays well with top-deck manipulation, Vision effects, and recursion decks that know what’s coming.

If your opponent flips a midrange card and you pull something that reshapes the board, the Energy bypass becomes your win condition.

Promising Future isn’t for every deck, but in hands that know what to dig for, it’s more than fair. It’s a loaded gun with the safety off.

Visuals

The art from Kudos Productions sells the mechanic with perfect clarity. A radiant spiral of cards swirls around a golden portal, drawing energy inward like a magnet.

The palette leans into blue and gold—a symbol of knowledge being funneled into destiny.

The wide shot makes it feel like something bigger than a spell. More like a decision echoing across the game state. It fits.

Pull Rate & Value Speculation

Set Number: OGN 115 out of 298
Rarity: Unconfirmed, likely Uncommon or Rare
Foil Status: Standard foil available
Alt Art: None revealed
Overnumbered: No announcement so far

Promising Future isn’t going to be a flashy pull for newer players, but seasoned deckbuilders are already eyeing this for combo setups and recursion loops.

Foils will have niche appeal in control-heavy metas.

If a future card lets you see or stack the top of your deck consistently, this becomes one of the best enablers in the five-cost slot.

Promising Future is a mirror-breaking card. Play it when you know your deck is deeper than theirs.

It’s not safe, but it’s exactly the kind of gamble that turns smart pilots into game-closers.
