Falling Star from Riftbound TCG

Falling Star
Spread the love

Falling Star isn’t flashy by Riftbound standards—until it is. This is one of those rare red spells that doesn’t scream aggression with a wall of text or wild effects.

Instead, it just executes—clean, surgical, and potentially devastating. In a game as tempo-sensitive as Riftbound, a 2-cost spell that hits two targets for 3 each is no joke.

This is flexible burn, tempo swing, and removal all rolled into one clean line.

Gameplay / Cool Mechanics

Here’s the full text:
Do this twice: Deal 3 to a unit. (You can choose different units.)

That’s it. No frills. But what it gives you is one of the best 2-cost removal spells we’ve seen previewed so far.

You get to deal 3 twice—either split across two units or stacked on one for a clean 6-damage knockout. This means Falling Star can:

  • Knock out two early units for massive tempo gain

  • Take down a mid-sized bruiser cleanly

  • Or even help finish off a wounded Champion

In red decks that lean control or midrange, Falling Star buys breathing room while pushing you ahead on board.

In aggro decks, it clears blockers with surgical efficiency. The flexibility makes it hard to play around, especially in a game with limited reactions to fast spells.

Visuals

The art on Falling Star matches its name perfectly: a cosmic meteor streaking through space, trailing iridescent light that shifts from violet to pink to searing white.

It’s gorgeous, but there’s a speed and violence to it—a comet that isn’t just falling but actively targeting. You can practically feel the sound barrier cracking.

Pull Rate & Value Speculation

Falling Star is card 029/298, a core spell from the base Riftbound set.

No alt art version revealed yet, but the card’s clean art and competitive power make it a strong candidate for future foils.

If Riftbound handles foil spells like other TCGs, this one will pop under foil treatment—and control players will want a playset, not just one.

At common or uncommon rarity, it’s a sleeper hit for competitive decks.

If it’s rare or locked behind limited booster rates, expect secondary market demand to spike fast once the meta settles.

Falling Star feels like the kind of card you underestimate until it ruins your board. There’s zero waste here—just pure utility and pressure.

If Riftbound has more red spells this clean, the burn archetypes are going to be real.
