<p data-start="33" data-end="335">Big, brutal, and built to anchor a lane like a thunder god should—<strong data-start="99" data-end="111">Volibear</strong> might just be the purest expression of control Riftbound has previewed so far.</p>
<p data-start="33" data-end="335">Slotted at a jaw-dropping 12-cost, this is one of the game’s most expensive plays, but you’re not paying for tempo. You’re paying to end a game.</p>
<p data-start="337" data-end="395">This is not a tech piece. <strong data-start="363" data-end="375">Volibear</strong> is a win condition.</p>
<hr data-start="397" data-end="400" />
<h2 data-start="402" data-end="431">Gameplay / Cool Mechanics</h2>
<p data-start="433" data-end="736"><strong data-start="433" data-end="445">Volibear</strong> enters with <strong data-start="458" data-end="470">10 Might</strong> and two keywords that signal exactly what you’re in for: <strong data-start="528" data-end="540">Shield 3</strong> and <strong data-start="545" data-end="553">Tank</strong>. That means this guy gets +3 Might while defending and must be targeted first in combat at his battlefield.</p>
<p data-start="433" data-end="736">You don’t just put him in front of a push—you dare your opponent to swing.</p>
<p data-start="738" data-end="816">But what really turns <strong data-start="760" data-end="772">Volibear</strong> from a wall into a weapon is his passive:</p>
<blockquote data-start="817" data-end="887">
<p data-start="819" data-end="887"><em data-start="819" data-end="887">“When an opponent moves to a battlefield other than mine, draw 1.”</em></p>
</blockquote>
<p data-start="889" data-end="1215">Translation? If your opponent tries to play around him—dodging or stalling—you’re rewarded anyway. It punishes hesitation. You either go through him or let the enemy draw deeper into their win con.</p>
<p data-start="889" data-end="1215">That kind of choice pressure on your opponent? It’s absurdly good, especially in a format where battlefield presence <em data-start="1204" data-end="1208">is</em> tempo.</p>
<p data-start="1217" data-end="1334">Volibear isn’t just big. He’s a psychological anchor. Drop him and you dictate board tension from that point forward.</p>
<hr data-start="1336" data-end="1339" />
<h2 data-start="1341" data-end="1352">Visuals</h2>
<p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-14604 aligncenter" src="https://blog.awesomedealsdeluxe.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Screenshot-2025-06-26-163138.png" alt="" width="396" height="566" srcset="https://blog.awesomedealsdeluxe.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Screenshot-2025-06-26-163138.png 396w, https://blog.awesomedealsdeluxe.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Screenshot-2025-06-26-163138-210x300.png 210w, https://blog.awesomedealsdeluxe.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Screenshot-2025-06-26-163138-20x29.png 20w" sizes="(max-width: 396px) 100vw, 396px" /></p>
<p data-start="1354" data-end="1767">The art sells everything the mechanics are doing. Volibear stands massive and silent, cloaked in Freljord-blue stormlight and rune-wrought scars. He’s not in motion—he <em data-start="1522" data-end="1526">is</em> the weather.</p>
<p data-start="1354" data-end="1767">The electricity framing his torso almost glows, and his posture is pure intimidation: chest out, head tilted slightly downward, eyes unreadable behind shadowed brows.</p>
<p data-start="1354" data-end="1767">It’s an image of power that doesn’t need to move to be felt.</p>
<p data-start="1769" data-end="1898">The backdrop’s storm-ravaged cliffs and darkened clouds only make him seem more inevitable. Like the world is holding its breath.</p>
<hr data-start="1900" data-end="1903" />
<h2 data-start="1905" data-end="1938">Pull Rate &amp; Value Speculation</h2>
<p data-start="1940" data-end="2349"><strong data-start="1940" data-end="1952">Volibear</strong> is card <strong data-start="1961" data-end="1972">158/298</strong>, flagged as a <strong data-start="1987" data-end="2004">Champion Unit</strong> with what looks like the <strong data-start="2030" data-end="2057">prismatic purple rarity</strong>—which means this is likely a chase-tier pull.</p>
<p data-start="1940" data-end="2349">We haven’t seen an alt-art or overnumbered version yet, but this one’s high on the collector radar already.</p>
<p data-start="1940" data-end="2349">If the set gets competitive, expect <strong data-start="2248" data-end="2260">Volibear</strong> to carry strong value thanks to his deck-defining potential in midrange-control hybrids.</p>
<p data-start="2351" data-end="2519">If you’re building Freljord or even hybrid-control battlefield lock decks, you’re going to want at least one copy—maybe more, if redundancy becomes key in slower metas.</p>
<p data-start="2552" data-end="2794" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><strong data-start="2552" data-end="2564">Volibear</strong> is the kind of card that forces a question the second it hits the board: “You got an answer for this?” If you don’t, the game’s not going to be about you anymore.</p>
<p data-start="2552" data-end="2794" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">It’s going to be about getting through him—or losing while trying.</p>
