In a game like Riftbound, where momentum and resource cycling matter as much as brute strength, Forge of the Future is a surprisingly sleek piece of Gear tech.

It’s not splashy on the surface, but the layered value it brings can make or break midgame board states—especially for decks that plan ahead and think in loops.

Gameplay / Cool Mechanics

Forge of the Future is a 2-cost Gear card that pulls double duty: it gives you a 1-power Recruit token at your base on entry, and when you kill it, it lets you recycle up to four cards from any trashes.

That last clause is quietly enormous. It’s one of the few cards previewed so far that touches the discard pile in a real way—and it does so with reach and flexibility.

You’re essentially paying two for a body now, and a delayed tutor refresh later. Decks that rely on combo pieces or burn through spells early get to loop back their key cards.

Control decks, meanwhile, can grind even longer if they cycle this at the right moment.

Forge of the Future might not look flashy, but the ability to touch any trash pile (not just yours) could open up reactive or hateplay strategies too.

There’s also synergy potential with cards that benefit from Gear death, trash-based triggers, or token summoning.

You’re getting board presence, value, and graveyard manipulation—all on one flexible card.

Visuals

The art on Forge of the Future leans loud and charismatic. Shirtless, confident, and set against a flaming industrial backdrop, the foreground figure radiates workshop bravado.

Sparks fly, furnaces roar, and there’s a rhythm of innovation behind the smirk.

It’s classic Piltover with a side of showboating—the future is forged by personality as much as metal here. The art matches the card’s mechanic too: this isn’t quiet refinement—it’s big energy in the service of clever recursion.

Pull Rate & Value Speculation

Forge of the Future is listed as card 212/298, and we haven’t seen any alt-art or foil versions confirmed yet.

That said, the bombastic visuals make it a strong candidate for special treatment.

If Recruit token synergy becomes a viable archetype—and it’s definitely getting nudged in that direction—then this could become a glue piece for recursion engines.

Meta-wise, expect to see Forge of the Future show up in grindy Piltover decks or even splash in multicolor midrange lists.

Not chase-tier right now, but it could quietly rise in value depending on how much the trash pile matters in set one and beyond.

Forge of the Future is what smart tempo looks like. Not every tool needs to swing a hammer—you just need to know when to recycle it.
