Wallop from Riftbound TCG

Spread the love

Wallop is the kind of card that doesn’t ask for subtlety. It’s built for decks that like hitting things hard and doing it again.

At two mana, or free if you pay with a buff, this spell fits right into red or aggressive green lists that want to keep their biggest threats moving.

It’s not a finisher—it’s a tempo tool that helps you double down.

Gameplay / Cool Mechanics

Wallop reads: “As you play this, you may spend a buff as an additional cost. If you do, ignore this spell’s cost. Ready a unit.” That one line opens a lot of doors.

First, the upside is obvious. You can skip paying two mana just by tossing a buff. For decks that stack short-term buffs—think damage boosts or temporary power-ups—Wallop lets you trade that momentum for another swing.

You don’t need to commit more mana, just recycle value and keep attacking.

The ready effect is simple but powerful. You can untap a unit that already attacked or blocked. You can reset a champion with a passive.

You can bluff a reactive play by standing something back up right before a combat phase.

That flexibility alone makes Wallop a problem for opponents trying to count threats.

It plays best in fast decks that don’t want to leave mana open. You already played your buff, got in for damage, and now you toss that buff away for more pressure.

Or you set up a showdown phase with a unit ready to clean up. Either way, you’re not spending turns resetting. Wallop lets you smash, reset, and smash again.

Visuals

The art absolutely sells it. A massive beast mid-leap, eyes blazing, teeth bared, with a punch that could crack the world. The background explodes with motion blur and shockwaves.

The card doesn’t hint at power—it delivers it full force. Kudos Productions captured exactly what the card wants to do: hit, reset, repeat.

Pull Rate and Value Speculation

Set Number: OGN 146 of 298
Rarity: Unconfirmed but likely Uncommon
Foil Status: Standard foil expected
Alt Art / Overnumbered: No alternate or overnumbered variant revealed

Wallop isn’t flashy in the way mythics are, but it’ll show up in a lot of aggressive brews. Any list that plays multiple buffs or runs buff-based champions will want access to it.

If red-green tempo becomes a meta archetype, expect Wallop to be a consistent 2–3 copy include. The art might give the foil version a little collector value, but this is mostly a player card.
