Overt Operation from Riftbound TCG

Overt Operation
Spread the love

Overt Operation is one of the most deceptively high-skill spells revealed so far in Riftbound: League of Legends TCG.

It’s a flexible, battlefield-wide buff play that lets you double down on tempo or turn the corner hard in a control shell.

It doesn’t scream power at first glance—but if you know how buffs work in Riftbound, this is a sleeper nuke.

Gameplay / Cool Mechanics

At 5 mana, Overt Operation lets you burn the buffs off each of your friendly units to ready them (essentially reactivating them if they’ve attacked or tapped), then buffs every friendly unit again—each one that doesn’t have a buff gets +1/+1.

In practice? This is a momentum-reset switch in aggro and a brutal recovery tool in midrange mirrors.

It’s at its best when you’ve already got some board presence and you’re trying to push again without overextending.

In Riftbound’s showdown-heavy combat system, being able to both untap and rebuff your team after a major swing can flip board states instantly.

The trick is the timing—you want your first wave to hit, then drop Overt Operation for round two.

Or hold it until your opponent commits to a block line, then ready everything again and crash back.

Visuals

The art sells the name. You’ve got a ragtag feline commando squad charging toward an explosion, ears back, weapons drawn, caught mid-mission gone off-script.

The orange inferno in the background frames the card’s chaos perfectly—what started as stealth has gone fully overt.

And the expressions? Controlled panic. You can feel the shift from plan A to pure instinct.

It’s not subtle, and neither is the card once it resolves.

Pull Rate & Value Speculation

  • Collector Number: 153/298

  • Rarity: Still unconfirmed, but very likely Rare based on its multi-layer effect and game-changing timing window.

  • Foil Potential: High visual pop in foil. The background explosion and glint off the character weapons will probably shimmer hard.

  • Alt Art / Overnumbered?: Nothing official yet, but as one of the more cinematic spell arts, this has potential for a full-frame variant down the line.

  • Meta Viability: Strong early signals in token swarm builds, potentially splashable in slower decks that want board reactivity. The dual-mode use (buff recycling + untap) means it’ll likely stay relevant across metas.

Overt Operation is a thinking player’s card—great art, skill-dependent ceiling, and the kind of spell that wins games by catching your opponent one beat too slow.

Play it right, and it’s not just overt—it’s oppressive.
